Innovative International College Library

1. The Regulations
The regulations are intended to enable the best use and fairest distribution to be made of the Kolej Antarabangsa library resources.

2. Entitlement to use of Library facilities
2.1. For Reference
All current members of the college may use the libraries for reference and study.

2.2. For borrowing
All current members of the college, whether staff of student, full or part-time, are entitled to borrow from the libraries.

3. Conduct the library
3.1. Library staff has authority to maintain good order in the library. The librarian may exclude from the library or suspend from its use any person who behaves in an un acceptable manner or infringes the regulations.
3.2. Users are required to threat the library environment with respect and the library staff with respect and courtesy. Should any incident be reported, information Services will pursue the matter with the appropriate authority.
3.3. Silence should be observed in all designated areas.
3.4. Smoking, eating, drinking, and the use of mobile phones is not permitted in the libraries.

4. Readers’ personal property
4.1. Neither information Services nor the College authorities accept responsibility for the loss of any personal property left in the libraries.
4.2. Property left on chair and tables by readers to reserve place in their absence may be removed by the library staff to make room for other readers.

5. Registration
Reader wishing to borrow materials must provide evidence of their eligibility to do so.
5.1. Student – Each student must present his college identification card. Enrolment of students is for the duration of their course, but students should present a current validation slip at the beginning of each academic year.
5.2. Full-time staff – Members of the full-time staff will be required to produce evidence of their post in the college.
5.3. Visiting teachers – Visiting teaching staff will be required to produce evidence of their post in the college.

Before being allowed to borrow, all readers must register in the library by completing a registration form. This entitles the reader to borrow from College Antarabangsa Innovative library. It each reader’s responsibility to notify the library of any changes of address or name.

6. Borrowing
Student and staff must carry their library card with them at all times and be prepared to show it on request. Services may not be provided without it. Acceptable alternatives must include:
6.1. Two official proofs of name with at least one of these providing proof of address.
6.2. One form of ID with photograph.

7. Borrowing entitlement
7.1. Students may normally have up to 3 items on loan at any one time. In certain circumstances (e.g teaching practice commitments ) this number may be exceeded at the discretion of the librarian.
7.2. Full – time and part time staff may normally have up to 5 items on loan at any one time.

8. Period of loan
Material is normally issued to students for 3 weeks and to members of staff for 5 weeks and to members of staff for 5 weeks. Special types of material are restricted to shorted periods of loan. Material may be recalled before the date stamped on the date label. Fines will be charged if items are not returned.

9. Recording of loans
All material borrowed from the library must be officially issues by a member of Library staff. Material must be returned on or before the date due from return. For certain types of loan readers may be charged fines if material is not returned on time. Readers are advised to ensure that material they returned on time. Readers are advised to ensure that the material they return is given to library staff and the loan record cancelled; Material should not be left on the library counter. It is the responsibility of individuals to make certain that material borrowed is returned to the library.

10. Reader are responsible for all books and other library materials taken out in their names and good care must be taken of them. Annotation and marking of library materials is prohibited.

Lost or damaged material should be reported at once and the reader will be asked to refund to either the replacement cost or the cost or the cost of repair , as appropriate.

It is an offence to remove or to attempt to remove a book or any other publication or any part thereof including magazines, prospectuses, and newspapers from the libraries.

Appropriate action will be taken against any reader caught or found attempting to deface or vandalize any material belonging to the library.

In addition
10.1. Disciplinary procedures may be taken against reader under the Regulations Governing Procedures in matters of Student Discipline which may result in suspension from the college
10.2. Reade may be prosecuted for criminal damage to property.
10.3. Readers will be required to pay of damage causes to publications.

11. Overdue books
Any item which becomes overdue will be recalled within a short period of time. Certain categories of library material incur fines if not returned on time. Readers who fail to comply with overdue notices will be invoiced by the college for the cost of replacing the item.
Library borrowing rights may be withdrawn in certain circumstances, for example, when fines have been incurred or when library users will be unable to borrow library materials.

Borrowing rights may only be restored at the discretion of the librarian.

12. Renewals
Most library materials on loan may be renewed on presentation at the library counter, provided the item is not seriously overdue and that it has not been reserved by another reader. Material may be renewed by telephone or by post.

13. Recall of library material
Any reserved item may be recalled from a borrower. If the item is not returned on time fines are incurred.

14. Return of library material at the end of each session
Failure to return library materials on completion of the course may lead to the withholding of a qualification certificate.

15. Special categories of material
Certain types of material, e.g. periodicals, newspapers, theses and reference items, are for use in the libraries only and are not be taken.

16. Inter-library loans
In addition to the general rules governing the loan of library materials, items borrowed from other libraries may also be subject to special conditions imposed by the library which owns them.

Students have the opportunities to do their library work in a calm and quiet environment.
