What is the CPU programme?
• The highest level of high school education from the Province of Ontario (Canada) also known as Grade 12.
What are the qualifications necessary to be accepted in the CPU programme?
• 5 SPM passes, GCE “O’ levels or equivalent.
What happens if I did not get 5 passes? Can I still take CPU?
• Yes you can still take CPU; however, you will have to take Grade 11 courses first.
What are Grade 11 Courses?
• Grade 11 is the equivalent of the Upper High School Examinations or GEC “O” levels.
What other grades are offered by CPU?
• Grades 9-11 with grade 9 being equal to Form 3.
How many subjects must I pass in order to graduate from CPU?
• You must pass 6 credits courses at the grade 12 level plus a literacy test.
What will I receive upon completion of the programme?
• You will receive the OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma) from Canada together with an official transcript showing the courses you have taken and your grades.
Where can I further my studies after completing the OSSD?
• The OSSD is accepted at every university worldwide providing your grades meet their criteria.
How does the programme work?
• You will be doing 2 courses at one time and each course will run for 4 months. Upon completion of each course; you will have to sit for the examination and then proceed to take 2 more courses.
How are the courses evaluated?
• 70% of your marks will come from course work (tests, quizzes, written assignments ) and 30% from the final examination.
Can I complete my courses in less than 4 months?
• Yes; you can complete your courses in less time just as long as you complete all the course work. You will then be allowed to sit for the final examination.
Where does the lessons come from?
• All lessons come directly from Canada, you will be given a user name and password to gain access to your courses.
Who will be sending the lessons to me?
• All lessons are prepared by certified and licensed teachers from Canada.
What is the role of my classroom teacher?
• Your classroom teacher will also have the same lessons and will teach each lesson as he/she would normally do in a regular classroom.
Where will my assignments, tests and examinations be marked?
• All examinations, tests and assignments will be marked in Canada.
Will I be able to communicate with my teacher in Canada?
• Yes; you will be able to communicate with your Canadian teacher via e-mail and SKYPE.
How long does it take to get back my marked assignments and tests?
• In most cases 1 day.
Is there any mid-term examinations?
• There are no mid-term examinations; you will receive a mid-term mark once you have completed half of the course.
In case of emergency; can I put my courses on pause?
• Yes; you can request to place your courses on hold for up to six months, there will be a $50 CAD per subject to restart each course.
If I cannot complete my course within the 4 months; will I be given any extension?
• Yes; you can request an extension and there is a charge of $129 CAD for each subject.
Are there any instances where students have had to extend their courses?
• Yes; but the number is very small, the 4 month period is adequate to complete each course.
After completing CPU; will the college assist me in getting accepted into a Canadian University?
• Yes; we will be able to assist you with getting accepted into a Canadian University providing your grades meet their criteria.
