Website Design and Development

Course Objectives
This course is designed to instruct students in Web site construction and design. Students will learn HTML coding and then be introduced to popular Web design and graphics programs including Dreamweaver, Photoshop, and Flash, as well as the multimedia programs Quicktime and iMovie. The course will cover the usage of graphics, sound and video and discuss the appropriateness of multimedia on Web sites for journalism, advertising, public relations, and e-commerce. Students will work on several small Web projects .The goal is to emphasize more than just the skills associated with individual programs, but the integration of several programs into designing effective and attractive Web sites.

Upon completion of this course, students will possess:

  • an understanding of HTML, Flash and other Web design technologies
  • a broad perspective on the interactive, multimedia
  • the ability to create Web sites that are functional and well designed
  • the ability to produce engaging multimedia to accompany sites

DAY 1: Introduction
Participants will be introduced and exposed to work with the following topics:

    Domain Control Panel
    Email creating and configuration

DAY 2: HTML and CSS
Participants will be able to work the basic elements of Website/Web Application including HTML(Hyper Text Markup Language) and Cascaded Style Sheet(CSS)

DAY 3: Website Design and Development/Blogging
In this stage, participants will be able to design and develop new website, edit a current website, create their own customized website using powerful Content Management System(CMS). The CSM include:

    Designing and creating Database in MySQL
    Linking database with database user
    Designing Logo
    Adding Logo and Title in the Web Home Page
    Adding articles
    Adding and uploading images
    Designing photo gallery
    Working with Forum
    Creating Forms
    Content Management Systems to be covered are:
    • Joomla!
    • Drupal

DAY 4: Website Updating and Maintenance
Participants will be able to maintain websites for:

    Uploading contents
    Changing contents
    Creating users privileges
    Uploading Images, Audios, Videos
    Creating Menus and Sub-menues, sub-sub Menues
    Creating, designing and maintaining blocks
